COVENTRY United Women have confirmed that club legend Anna Wilcox has left her playing role with the club.
Wilcox amassed more than 100 appearances for the Red and Greens during a seven-year spell and will continue in her role as Coventry United Community Officer alongside midfielder Katy Morris.
The defender made her final appearance for the club in United’s 4-0 defeat to Women’s Super League side Reading in the Continental Tyres League Cup in December last year.
Wilcox said: “I would like to thank all my teammates, staff and supporters from past and present.
“I’d like to thank everyone for their lovely messages, comments and tweets. Leaving the club was never an easy decision to make, the football club I call home.
“I’ve met so many incredible people and made friends for life. But sometimes you have to do what’s best for you.
“Thank you to all of my teammates, staff members and supporters from past and present, you’ve all played a part in some of the incredible memories I’ll cherish for life.”
Coventry United Chairman and CEO, Lewis Taylor added: “I would personally like to thank Anna for her playing contribution, not just during my time at United, but throughout the seven-year period.
“Anna has been a wonderful ambassador for the club, and I look forward to seeing her develop Coventry United off the pitch in her community officer role.”
