COVENTRY City have signed forward Sean Maguire from Championship rivals Preston North End on a permanent deal until the end of the 2022/23 season.
Maguire made 170 appearances for the Lilywhites and scored 24 goals across five and a half seasons at Deepdale.
The 28-year-old has been capped 12 times by the Republic of Ireland and scored his only senior international goal against New Zealand.
Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Sean to Coventry City.
“He is an experienced striker at this level, who has a number of qualities that will help us between now and the end of the season.
“He can hold up the ball well and is adept at bringing others into play. He will provide a very good option for us in the forward area, and we look forward to working with him.”
Maguire started his career with Waterford United in Ireland before moving to West Ham United where he failed to make a senior appearance.
After loan spells with Sligo Rovers and Accrington Stanley, Maguire returned to Ireland with Dundalk before enjoying a fruitful spell with Cork City where he scored 54 goals in 73 games.
