RUGBY LEAGUE: COVENTRY Bears have moved to land the signing of Luke Frixou.
Frixou, who has had a high profile start to his rugby league career, has been on the club’s radar for months.
His recent return to fitness made it the perfect time for Bears to snap up the talented player, who starred on hit Australian rugby league based reality TV show NRL Rookie.
Head coach Tom Tsang was delighted to have snapped up Frixou who he expects to add some pace to the Bears team.
He added: “As a Midlands lad, Luke first came onto our radar last year ago.
“He competed really strongly in Australia and came back to the UK to trials at Salford and Leigh.
“With him being so new to Rugby League, even he is unsure what position will suit him best in the long term.
“He has a big frame and is quick for his size.
“He could just as feasibly end up as a really strong running winger, or an athletic, mobile loose forward.
“What is certain though is he has masses of potential so we will work with him to unlock that.”
An excited Luke said: “I’m really excited to have signed for Coventry Bears and restart my rugby league journey.
“This opportunity has come at a great time for me so I feel I can really bring the best version of myself to the team and I’m confident I am at the right club to improve and become the best player I can.
“Everyone has been very welcoming and I can genuinely say I’ve enjoyed every minute of training so far.
“I’m looking forward to learning from the coaches and the lads so I can be a part of a winning team.”
