COVENTRY United stormed into sixth place in Midland Football League Premier Division with a six-goal thrashing of Selston.
With six different goalscorers in Saturday’s spectacle at Butts Park Arena, the Red and Greens provided the home faithful with reason to be cheerful after ending a three-match losing run in style.
Christopher Camwell’s 15th-minute opener was added to by Josh O’Grady’s strike seven minutes later, with Matthew Gardner making it three just after the half-hour mark.
Proceedings were not completely straightforward, however, with Tyler Haddow shown a straight red just before half time.
But despite the man disadvantage, second-half goals from Lewis Ison, Joseph Cairns and an Aaron Williams penalty wrapped up a much-needed win.
United visit Boldmere St. Michaels on Saturday (3pm).
