ICE HOCKEY: ROSS Venus revealed Coventry Blaze’s 2015 Playoff success under Chuck Weber as his most memorable moment since skating for the club.
The 23-year-old iced his 500th game for Blaze on Saturday as Danny Stewart’s men suffered a 3-1 loss in Milton Keynes.
But the popular Blaze forward helped the Skydome outfit gain revenge on their Patton Conference rivals the following night as Venus’ goal earned Blaze a timely 6-4 win.
Reflecting on his time in Coventry, Venus – who first donned the Blaze jersey for the club’s Under 16s team in 2006/07 – said: “It’s been a rollercoaster ride. When I saw the stat on Twitter I had no idea I was near that mark.
“Winning the playoffs has to be my best memory.
“That year we started poorly and we had a new coach. But we turned things around, it was a surreal feeling.
“It’s made extra special as I joined the Blaze academy at the age of 12 and have grew up watching and being part of this club.”
