WALSGRAVE Club will be hosting the 2016 British Crown Green Bowling Association ‘Junior’ Merit this Saturday (20 August).
Two qualifiers from across 16 counties will compete at the Walsgrave Bowls Club hoping to be crowned the All Britain Junior Champion 2016. Each contestant will have had to qualify at County level to reach the final day.
Cllr Kamran Caan, Coventry City Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sports, said: “It’s great that Coventry will be hosting the national final of this Junior Bowls competition.
“I’m really pleased to be able to witness the next generation of Crown Green Bowls players at the top level and to see how the sport involves people of all ages.”
As hosts the North Midlands County Bowling Association will be providing all finalists with a memento to mark their achievement in making finals day.
Ron Beard, Secretary of the North Midlands said “It’s an honour to be chosen to host this event and to be able to watch the next generation of Crown Green Bowlers.”
The event, staged at Walsgrave Bowls Club situated at the rear of the Walsgrave Carvery, begins at 10am and will run throughout the day.
