COVENTRY demonstrated their ambitions to progress to the next level of rugby union after signing former Dragons, Gloucester and Welsh seven’s full-back Martyn Thomas.
The 27-year-old has moved to the Butts Park Arena from French side Massy and will bring a vast amount of experience to Coventry.
Thomas was born in Carmarthen and played for Welsh regional sides Scarlets before moving to Newport Gwent Dragons where he played 80 times over four seasons.
It was during his time at the Dragons that he played alongside current Coventry skipper Scott Morgan.
Thomas then joined Gloucester on a one-year contract with an option for a further season and made 53 appearances during a two-year spell in the Premiership, where he also played in the European Challenge Cup.
Following a short stint in France Thomas signed for Coventry and made his debut on the bench for Coventry’s 28-28 draw at Richmond on Saturday.
