The SKY Blues have completed the signing of former Barnsley winger Jim O’Brien on a two-year deal, subject to Football League and FA approval.
The 26-year-old becomes Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley’s second signing ahead of the 2014/15 League One season.
O’Brien recently left Barnsley, where he scored against the Sky Blues in the 2-1 FA Cup win at Oakwell last season, having joined the Tykes in 2010.
He has also enjoyed spells at Celtic, Dundee United and Motherwell as well as making six appearances for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 team.
Pressley said: “We’re delighted to bring a player of Jim’s quality to the football club.
“He is a player of proven Championship quality and his energy, work rate and team ethic along with that quality makes him a perfect fit for us.
“Coming into the summer, I knew we needed to add some quality to our midfield and options on the wing. Jim ticks all the boxes.
“After speaking with him, it was evident to me that Jim has the right mentality to fit into our system and I believe that this football club can provide him with the challenge he wants.”
