WINGER Kyel Reid will provide much-needed experience to a young Sky Blues squad gunning for promotion insists manager Tony Mowbray after the former Preston North End player signed on a two-year-deal.

The 28-year-old becomes Mowbray’s third summer signing as he continues to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion back to the Championship.

Reid, who made 39 appearances for Bradford City while on loan last season, trained with the Sky Blues this week and will remain at the Ricoh Arena until June 2018.

“I’m delighted to finally get Kyel’s signing over the line and look forward to the energy he will bring to our squad,” said Mowbray.

“Having made it to the play-off semi-final with Bradford last year, he’s another player who I would identify as having the experience needed to compete at the top of this league.

“He is capable of scoring goals at this level and will undoubtedly add creativity to our attacking third. I’m looking forward to working with him over the course of the season.”

Reid started his career at West Ham United and a move to Sheffield United followed after a series of loan spells between 2006 and 2009.

The former England Under-19 international spent one year at Bramall Lane where he failed to break into the first team before moving to Charlton and a season later he moved again to Bradford City.

Reid enjoyed three years with the Bantams and moved back there last season on loan followed a move to Preston at the beginning of the 2014/15 campaign.
