Youngsters providing fans with a reason to smile

THIS week’s Sky Blues fan’s view column has been sent in by Benjamin Lipman who is enjoying watching the latest batch of academy graduates in Steven Pressley’s first team.

“The one aspect of the return to the Ricoh Arena, which a lot of fans missed out on last season, is the exciting young prospects we have coming through our academy.

“Several of them have jumped into the spotlight this year, showing the importance that a strong academy brings.

“One of those players is Jordan Willis; in the last 12 months Jordan has turned into a solid, dependable, hard working defender that now is one of the first names on the team sheet.

“His attitude to the game and the way he conducts himself is a real credit to the academy staff that brought him through. I can only see good things for Jordan, and hope that he reaches his aims and goals with the Sky Blues.

“Aside from Jordan, the emergence of Ryan Haynes and Jack Finch show the conveyor belt of talent emerging from the Academy is continuing.

“With Ryan you have a rough diamond that’s just started to be polished; the nervous boy of two years ago has been replaced by a mature, enthusiastic player, who gets fans excited every time he gets the ball.

“Jack on the other hand is a different proposition; here we have a player who can read the game, is good in the air and can use both feet. With Stephen Pressley as his manager, I am sure he will only get better and better.

“I think what is encouraging, is the fact that the Youth of today are going to be the City of tomorrow, and with the return to the Ricoh all of the fans who missed out last season will be able to enjoy watching them. The future is starting to look a little brighter after all. PUSB.”
