COVENTRY City have had a bid accepted for Swansea City captain Matt Grimes as the Sky Blues close in on their first signing of the January transfer window.
According to BBC Sport, Coventry have agreed a deal with Swansea to sign the 29-year-old midfielder.
The Sky Blues had seen two previous bids rejected by the Welsh club.
However, a third bid appears to have been successful in luring Grimes to the Coventry Building Society Arena.
BBC Sport believe the deal could be worth up to £4m including add-ons.
Grimes signed a contract extension to remain with Swansea until 2027 last August.
He became Swansea captain in 2019 and has made 333 appearances for the Swans scoring 16 goals.
Coventry make the trip to Swansea this weekend (Saturday, February 1, kick-off 3pm).
If City are able to secure Grimes’ signature he would become Frank Lampard’s first signing as Sky Blues boss.
