Thousands enjoy 'bigger and better' Warwickshire Pride festival

REVELLERS have enjoyed the ‘biggest and best’ Warwickshire Pride festival to date.

Thousands descended on the Pump Room Gardens to enjoy acts including 90s pop star Kavana and the UK’s first Muslim drag queen, Asifa Lahore.

It was the festival’s fifth year of running, and followed a theme of Love and Freedom.

Event chairman Daniel Browne said: “This year’s Warwickshire Pride will go down as the biggest and best so far, which is exactly what we were hoping it would be.

“It was great to see people of all ages enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the festival and embracing lesbian, gay, bi and transgender (LGBT) life and culture.

“Warwickshire Pride costs around £10,000 to put on and every year is a struggle, but thanks to the kindness of sponsors and donations, we just managed to pull it off again this year.

“I would like to thank the family of volunteers who worked incredibly hard on the day to help the festival run smoothly. Without them, Pride simply couldn’t take place.”

The organiser is now set to begin arranging next year’s festival, and has asked for anyone interested in taking part to get in touch.

Daniel added: “Planning for Warwickshire Pride 2018 will soon begin. We’ll be recruiting new trustees and volunteers for that, so welcome anybody who wishes to help getting in touch.”
