JAGUAR Land Rover has revealed plans to create a huge global parts distribution base in the East Midlands.
The proposed ‘logistics campus’ would be near Ashby-De-La-Zouch in Leicestershire, close to junction 11 of the M42, and supply replacement parts to customers across the world.
The facility would consolidate 10 existing sites across the Midlands to ‘improve efficiency for the flow of parts’, according to developers IM Properties.
The unit would supply 80 regions across the world including the UK, Asia and India.
Kevin Ashfield, UK development director at IM Properites said: “We believe the proposed planning application puts forward a high-quality, sustainable scheme will have huge economic benefits for the local area and retain an important element of the Jaguar Land Rover business in the region.”
If plans are given the go ahead IM Properties say development will start in 2020 and the first of five unit should be completed in May 2021.
The plans are set to be discussed by North West Leicestershire District Council on September 3.
