Warning about dangers of bonfires during hot and dry weather

Coventry Editorial 4th Aug, 2020   0

FIREFIGHTERS are warning about the dangers of bonfires during hot and dry weather.

It comes after crews were called to put out an unattended bonfire on Gypsy Lane in Kenilworth at around 1pm on Monday (August 3).

And they are warning about the dangers of having fires during hot weather as they can easily get out of control.

A spokesman from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Please try and avoid having bonfires especially during dry hot weather as they can get out of control very easily.

“The picture is the aftermath of a garden bonfire we attended earlier this year which due to dry windy weather spread to affect the whole garden and two sheds. The house was very close to the fire and had the fire not been reported immediately the house would have been destroyed too.”
