HS2 protestors have been released without charge after attempting to stop contractors cutting down trees.
Three people were arrested on Monday morning – two on suspicion of breach of the peace and one on suspicion of aggravated trespass.
They were released with no further action taken.
The protestors have been among those campaigning along Welsh Road in Offchurch since last week in a bid to stop HS2 cutting down trees and hedgerows.
Work so far has included chopping down a 400-year-old oak tree.
Matt Bishop – who founded the protest camp in Cubbington Woods – was one of those arrested after lying on HS2 fence panels and refusing to move.
As police carried him to the van fellow protestors clapped and shouted ‘well done Matt’.
He said: “140 miles of English countryside is being destroyed for nothing, it’s such a waste.
“I love the countryside and that is why I am being arrested.
“They will destroy Cubbington and fell all the woodland where people live. People in Leamington, their lives will be ruined and their children will not be able to walk in the country.”
Another protestor was arrested after clinging onto a fence panel and was carried to a police car.
She said: “People have got to stand up and stop this happening. It is a madness project.
“We do not want this project to happen it is causing more climate destruction.”
