A COURT date has been set to move HS2 protestors from camps across Warwickshire.
Campaigners from Crackley Wood and Cubbington Wood sites will learn their fate at a hearing at Birmingham’s Business and Property Courts on Tuesday March 17.
The injunction and possession order also seeks to prevent them from setting up new camps on sites including Broadwells and Birches Wood.
A rally is being held offering possibly the last chance to walk through the woodland and to oppose the injunctions and high speed line. It will be held on Sunday March 15.
Cubbington camp spokesman Matt Bishop – who previously walked 100 miles along the proposed line to London – said: “The rally is the last call potentially. It could be peoples’ last chance to see parts of this woodland before it is destroyed forever.
“Felling three areas of precious local ancient woodland – Broadwells, Birches Wood and part of Crackley Woods – is despicable.
“Join us to walk among our ancient trees and show government how strongly you feel about this terrible assault on our ecological heritage.”
TV wildlife presenter Chris Packham has launched a legal challenge against the controversial line claiming it fails to take carbon emissions targets into account.
Mr Bishop believes the appeal is the last hope to see HS2 cancelled.
The walk through the ancient woodland starts at 1pm at Abbey Fields Park in Bridge Street and will take around three hours. For a shorter walk park at Crackley Woods.
