COVENTRY Rugby’s community foundation has launched a special appeal to help them leave a lasting legacy in the city on the club’s 150th anniversary.

The charity will be launching its anniversary appeal with a breakfast meeting at the Butts Park Arena from 8am on Wednesday, February 7.

The foundation works with the rugby club to improve the lives of local people through the power of sport.

Coventry Rugby chair Jon Sharp and newly-appointed foundation chair John Edwards will use the breakfast to outline the vision for the anniversary appeal.

Guests will also be able to learn more about the charity’s work within the local community.

Several local dignitaries are set to be at the anniversary appeal launch, including Coventry North West MP Taiwo Owatemi and several city councillors.

Mr Sharp said: “We have a long history of working in the community, particularly since the formation of our charitable foundation some years ago.

“In addition, some of our Foundation ambassadors, who themselves are influential, well-known figures in our community and fully supportive of the work we do will be present.”
