Coventry school celebrating after finally getting 'Good' in Ofsted rating

STUDENTS and staff at Foxford School are celebrating a remarkable turnaround after it received its first ‘Good’ Ofsted rating since 2007.

The school has been rated as ‘Requiring Improvement’ for more than 15 years but in recent years, after joining the Castle Phoenix Trust, has seen a significant upturn.

In 2020, a new leadership team was brought in, including headteacher Alison Gallagher, and the new group’s work has resulted in a marked improvement in learning, teaching, student behaviour and attitudes, pastoral care and personal development.

Ofsted inspectors noted pupil’s comments, who said behaviour had improved significantly over time.

The report also praised the positive and caring relationships between staff, pupils and sixth-form students.

Mrs Gallagher said the report was even more pleasing as the improvements had been achieved despite disruption from the Covid pandemic.

She added everyone was thrilled with the report and that the hard work and progress made had been recognised.

“Since I arrived at Foxford, the staff, governors and the central team at the trust have worked with relentless focus, dedication and commitment to ensure our students have the best education.”
