‘DELIGHTED’ volunteers from Coventry Hospital Radio have celebrated being recognised at a national award ceremony.
Coventry Hospital Radio finished in the top ten of the Best Station Promotion category at the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) Awards ceremony in Bolton.
Volunteers from Coventry Hospital Radio joined stations from across the country for a weekend of celebration, including an opening address from former BBC and ITN News Reporter and Presenter Nicholas Owen.
The station was shortlisted for the award for its campaign encouraging patients, staff, and volunteers to get in touch and request songs during Friday shows.
Coventry Hospital Radio PR Officer Simon Tidmarsh said: “We are delighted with the results of the Hospital Broadcasting Association 2026 Awards. This year’s competition was tougher than ever, with a record number of stations entering each category.
“We have an exciting 12 months ahead and look forward to sharing news on air and across our social media and website very soon.
“I would like to say a big thank you to all our volunteers who give up their free time every week – whether presenting shows, collecting requests on the wards, or supporting fundraising events. It’s these daily efforts that keep our station thriving.”
Coventry Hospital Radio broadcasts for free, 24 hours a day, seven days a week inside the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, online at www.coventryhospitalradio.org, on the Coventry Hospital Radio App, and on smart speakers.
