HS2 will not force Kenilworth Show to move - for now

THE THREAT of HS2 will not force the Kenilworth Show to move – for now.

Organisers of the agricultural show – which is now in its 76th year – thought the event may have to move from land opposite Stoneleigh Park as work began on the high speed line.

But the start of the project has been delayed, meaning the show will return to the site again on Saturday June 8, before having to find a new home in 2020.

Last year more than 12,000 attended the country show which included livestock and equine competitions.

Director Charlie Weetman said: “We are pleased to announce that we will be back on the same site for 2019.

“Over the last few months we have been working closely with the team at Stoneleigh Park to ensure we would be staying in the area, with or without HS2.

“Last year’s show was another huge success, attracting a huge crowd and showcasing the very best of the region’s agriculture.

“We will continue to work alongside Stoneleigh Park and to actively seek new locations for the show in the region next year.”
