A ‘WORLD class’ global propulsion and power systems company has opened its new Global Innovation Centre in Coventry.
ePropelled opened the new facility to support the company’s plan to scale production beyond one million propulsion systems annually by 2027.
The company says the investment brings ‘high value engineering roles and significant supply chain participation aligned to the region’s advanced manufacturing strengths’.
Guests from regional government, national policy, industry primes and academia were invited to the opening.
ePropelled Founder, Chair and CEO Nick Grewal said: “We selected Coventry because of its extraordinary concentration of engineering talent and the capability of the West Midlands supply chain.
“To support global demand, we intend to exceed one million propulsion systems annually by 2027. The region gives us the speed, expertise and ecosystem to achieve that scale.”
CFO Henry Sullivan added: “This region has a rich heritage in engineering design from the famous Coventry Climax engine to Courtauld’s Tencel fibre, and provides a depth of technical capability that is hard to match.
“By investing in Coventry, we are harnessing skills in power electronics, materials and software, including AI, to build a world leading technology centre. Our ambition is for this site to become a global hub for propulsion research, innovation and end to end testing.”
Coventry East MP Mary Creagh, who attended the event, said: “ePropelled is another world class innovator in modern manufacturing who has found Coventry to be a brilliant city to make their home. Coventry’s deep engineering heritage has kept us at the heart of UK manufacturing for more than a century.
“Investment from companies like ePropelled creates more skilled jobs in the city and will further strengthen our industrial ecosystem, enabling the people of our city to future-proof their skills and experience in this rapidly developing sector.”
Simon Baugh, ePropelled Director of Corporate Marketing, added: “The West Midlands sits at the heart of our global operations network. By integrating engineering here with our manufacturing footprint and supply chain partners worldwide, we are creating a seamless capability that supports high volume production and meets all relevant European compliance requirements.
“This is essential as we scale toward more than one million systems a year.”
ePropelled is a global propulsion and power systems company with strong UK engineering roots, supported by operations in India and the United States.
The Coventry centre will further develop ePropelled’s unified electric and hybrid motors, generators and AI based energy management technologies.
