COVENTRY City have agreed to sell captain Ben Sheaf to Championship rivals Wrexham in a £6.5million deal.
Sheaf will undergo a medical with the Welsh side on Monday after the two clubs agreed on a £6.5m fee for the midfielder, according to Sky Sports.
The 27-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and has featured just once for the Sky Blues this season.
Sheaf’s only appearance of the season came as a substitute on the opening day of the campaign.
However, the midfielder suffered an injury and had to be replaced just seven minutes after entering the fray.
Sheaf became Coventry captain ahead of the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
However, he endured an injury-hit season last term as he managed just 25 starts.
He initially joined Coventry on loan from Arsenal for the 2020/21 season with the move made permanent the following campaign.
Sheaf has made 144 appearances for the Sky Blues in all competitions, scoring nine goals.
He helped the club reach the Championship play-off final in 2022/23.
And the midfielder then helped City reach the FA Cup semi-finals in 2023/24.
He captained the club last term as Coventry’s season ended in play-off semi-final heartbreak.
The midfielder now looks likely to depart the club and complete a move to Hollywood-owned Wrexham.
