COVENTRY City played out a 1-1 draw with La Liga side Real Betis in their first home pre-season friendly.
Jack Rudoni put City ahead in the first half only for Pablo Garcia’s stunner to draw the Spanish side level at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The Sky Blues will play one final pre-season friendly against Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli before the start of the Championship season.
Coventry named new loan signing Carl Rushworth in goal while fellow new arrivals Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Miguel Angel Brau appeared as second-half substitutes.
City also handed minutes to youngsters Callum Perry, Kai Andrews and Raphael Borges Rodrigues.
Betis also named a strong side which featured Champions League winner Marc Bartra and former Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin.
The Spanish side reached the UEFA Conference League final last season and will play in the Europa League this campaign.
The friendly also saw Sky Blues boss Frank Lampard reunite with Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini.
Premier League winning boss Pellegrini managed Lampard during his time in charge of Manchester City.
Betis almost took the lead early on only for Rushworth to tip an effort around the post.
And Rushworth then denied former West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals from close range.
However, Coventry took the lead on 25 minutes when Rudoni latched onto a loose pass and took the ball around the goalkeeper before finishing into an empty net.
The visitors went close to an equaliser before the break as Rushworth made a crucial stop low down to his left to deny Argentina international Giovani Lo Celso.
However, Betis equalised moments after the interval when substitute Garcia smashed an unstoppable effort into the top left corner from 20-yards out.
City almost reclaimed the lead later in the half as Victor Torp saw his effort from distance travel inches past the post.
Coventry finish pre-season with a home game against FC St. Pauli on Saturday, August 2 with kick-off at 3.30pm at the CBS Arena.
