NORMAN Bassette is excited ahead of making his FA Cup debut for Coventry City against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
The 20-year-old has scored two goals in 19 appearances for the Sky Blues since his arrival at the Coventry Building Society Arena from French side Caen in the summer.
And Bassette is eager to impress in the FA Cup after watching City’s memorable FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester United at Wembley from afar last season.
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, Bassette said: “I’m excited, I love the football in England, the fans are close in every game, it’s my first chance to play in the FA Cup.
“I saw the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United, it’s important for the club and the fans.
“[My first goal] was a beautiful moment because my family were there, it was a beautiful moment with the fans and the atmosphere.
“The fans are amazing and I’m very happy playing for Coventry.
“The Championship is very hard, very tough and very difficult, my adaptation is good for the moment, the new gaffer has good confidence in me.
“I’m very happy for that because I’m very young, I have a good mentality, I work hard [for the badge] every minute.”
The youngster became a full Belgium international earlier this season and scored his first goal for the club against Sheffield United in November.
He also found the net against Portsmouth in City’s final game before Christmas.
Coventry host Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, January 11 with kick-off at 6pm at the CBS Arena.
