COVENTRY City will be showing their support for the LGBTQ+ community at tonight’s home match against Queens Park Rangers.
February marks LGBT History Month and the EFL and Puma have teamed up to produce a special rainbow match ball.
The ball will be used by all 72 clubs across the Football League throughout the month. February is also Football v Homophobia’s month of action.
And Coventry will show their support for the LGBTQ+ community in a number of other ways throughout their home fixture against QPR.
City will feature information about ‘Proud Sky Blues’ – the club’s official LGBTQ+ supporter group – in the matchday programme.
This will showcase what the Proud Sky Blues have done over the last 12 months.
The Proud Sky Blues logo will also appear on the big screen throughout the game.
Coventry players will wear special t-shirts during the warm-up.
The club’s non-playing staff will also wear badges to display their support along with mascot Sky Blue Sam.
And the players will walk out of the tunnel next to rainbow balloon towers.
Special content will appear on the scoreboard, over the tannoy and on social media throughout the matchday.
Sky Blues in the Community will also be highlighting the journey of one of their participants.
Coventry were shortlisted for a Football v Homophobia award last month.
The club are shortlisted in the professional game award category.
This recognises the club’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
