COVENTRY City head coach Frank Lampard saw red after the final whistle after the Sky Blues surrendered an early lead in a 2-1 defeat against title-chasing Burnley.
An early goal from Haji Wright put City ahead only for Jaidon Anthony to draw the Clarets level just past the quarter-hour mark at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
And a defensive mix-up allowed Anthony to put Burnley ahead early in the second half.
Sky Blues boss Lampard vented his frustrations at referee James Bell after the full-time whistle, feeling a number of decisions went against his side throughout.
And the result means Coventry drop to seventh in the Championship table, one point outside of the play-off places.
The Sky Blues made the perfect start as James Trafford tipped Jack Rudoni’s low effort onto the post before Ephron Mason-Clark saw his follow-up blocked into the path of Wright who volleyed home from close range after just five minutes.
Replays appeared to show Wright in an offside position when turning the ball into the net with Burnley left furious with the match officials.
However, Burnley equalised on 16 minutes when Anthony finished into an empty net from close range after Lyle Foster flicked Josh Cullen’s low cross into the scorer’s path.
And the visitors completed the turnaround on 46 minutes when Liam Kitching and Bradley Collins failed to deal with a long ball in-behind the Sky Blues defence as Anthony pounced to finish through the legs of the defender from 20-yards out.
The Sky Blues felt aggrieved at a lack of cards shown by the referee throughout the contest and frustrations boiled over at full time with Lampard shown a red card for his protests.
