COVENTRY Sphinx exited the Birmingham Senior Cup at the third round stage following a 2-0 home defeat against Lye Town.

The game marked the club’s first match since replacing former boss John Woodward with brothers Ryan and Joe Conneelly.

However, Sphinx slipped to defeat at the Cameron Slater Arena against Midland Football League Premier Division side Lye.

Goals from Elliott Ball and Leo Gouveia condemned Coventry to defeat against the lower division side.

Coventry are next in action against Anstey Nomads on Saturday, January 17 with kick-off at 3pm at Cropston Road.
