FRANK Lampard admits Coventry City’s decision to sell Luis Binks to Brondby came down to the defender’s playing time.
Binks completed a permanent move to the Danish side earlier this week for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old made 25 appearances for the club in all competitions last season but only started five league games after the turn of the year.
And Lampard admitted Coventry’s remarkable run of form meant he found it difficult to give Binks the minutes he wanted which ultimately led to the defender’s departure.
Lampard said: “It was one of those, Luis wanted to play and that was the case last season.
“He played some minutes but unfortunately I can only pick a certain amount of players.
“You look for consistency of performance and we had our run from New Year onwards where we won a lot of games.
“When players get frustrated it’s either they want to stay and find their way in or they want to play.
“It was all very amicable, I had a good relationship with him, the club like him, he liked his time at the club but sometimes it’s the best solution for both.”
