JAY Dasilva admits Coventry City ‘never got going’ despite taking the lead in defeat against Norwich City.
The Sky Blues led through Romain Esse’s goal only for Anis Ben Slimane to equalise for the home side before Ali Ahmed scored the winner for the Canaries at Carrow Road.
And Dasilva admits conceding so early in the second half led to a flat performance from the Sky Blues in Norfolk.
Dasilva said: “It’s very disappointing. We know we were not at our best, definitely.
“Even though we went a goal ahead, you’re not going to play great every game.
“It should have clicked, when we went a goal ahead, that we were not at our best and how much it should mean to us to hold on to the lead.
“When you come out in the second half and concede so early, it’s never great and we just never got going.
“It’s down to us to fight back and get something out of the game. It just felt a bit flat for us.
“It’s down to us to make it right in the next game.”
Coventry have failed to win any of their last six away games in the league while defeat at Carrow Road also saw the Sky Blues lose back-to-back away games for the first time this season.
Despite the defeat, Dasilva insists the Sky Blues remain confident in their quest to achieve promotion to the Premier League with City three points clear at the top of the table.
Dasilva added: “If a couple of our chances go in, on another night we come away with a great away win but that wasn’t the case.
“It’s about looking forward now, we just need to put in a worthy performance for the supporters.
“We’re all disappointed with ourselves that we were not quite at it.
“Everyone still believes and we’re still confident. We’re top of the league.
“We’ve just got to focus on ourselves, get back to all the good things we’ve been doing so far.
“This result is a reminder that it does not come easy. Every game is so hard so we have to fight for every game.”
Coventry are next in action against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, January 31 with kick-off at 3pm at Loftus Road.
