JOSH Eccles felt he and his Coventry City teammates ‘showed their talent’ to stage a comeback and beat 10-man West Bromwich Albion.
Eccles kick-started City’s comeback with a headed goal shortly before half time and drew a foul from Albion midfielder Jayson Molumby early in the second period which saw the latter sent off.
Further strikes from Ellis Simms and Victor Torp completed the turnaround after Aune Heggebo’s brace put Albion into a two-goal lead just past the half-hour mark at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The win moves Coventry seven points clear at the top of the Championship table and Eccles more than made the most of his chance on his return to the starting line-up.
Eccles said: “You never want to go two-nil down so early on but we know as a team we’ve got the talent.
“We showed our talent, even before we were two-nil down, we created a lot of chances.
“It just felt like it was one of those days where, no matter what you do, it wasn’t going in.
“We managed to get the break just before half time which gave us a little boost.
“The red card gave us another boost and we went on to score two more.
“These are the games you enjoy the most. It was entertaining and we had control in a lot of the game.”
Eccles found the net for the first time since scoring twice in Coventry’s Boxing Day win against Plymouth Argyle last season.
And the midfielder hopes his goal against West Brom will give him some momentum after battling with injuries throughout the current campaign.
Eccles added: “I knew it was going to be tough [to play more minutes].
“I missed pre-season which is never a helpful thing.
“I came back in for a few games and picked up a little niggle.
“Hopefully, this performance gives me a little bit of momentum going into the next game.
“We’ve got so much talent [in the squad], you just have to wait your time and show what you can do.”
Coventry are next in action against Middlesbrough on Tuesday, November 25 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Riverside.
