MARK Robins is in ‘no doubt’ Coventry City will turn their season around ahead of hosting Luton Town this weekend.
The Sky Blues head into the fixture at the Coventry Building Society Arena in the Championship relegation zone having won just two of their 11 league matches so far this season.
City drew 1-1 at Queens Park Rangers in midweek following a narrow 1-0 defeat at Preston North End last weekend and Robins insists there is a fine line between success and failure.
Robins said: “I don’t think performances have been particularly poor.
“Things will turn around, there’s no doubt about it, the players will look back and have this as a learning experience for the future.
“We have all been in football a long time and you get periods like this when you start to feel things are going against you and we’re not performing to a level we expect or we want, but there are things that are mitigating those results that are generally out of our control as well.
“In our control, we have to do better in the defensive side of things because we have conceded too many goals.
“It’s a fine line between success and relative failure, so we have to keep going, there’s no easy option, we have to work hard and work hard on the mental side of things because that has become a lot more prevalent in today’s society, hence you have to help, support and grow.”
And Robins believes the Sky Blue army can play their part in City’s resurgence and has called on supporters to stick with the team following a difficult start to the campaign.
Robins added: “The support we’ve had from the fan base has been fantastic and we have to just to ask for that to continue because if they stick behind them then they will come through it a lot quicker.
“The mantra we’ve had over the years of rise together and the fan base being together and they’ve seen what happens when everything is together and they’ve also seen what can happen when things are fractured, so they’ll have seen that and know I’m not talking rubbish.
“On Tuesday night they were incredible and the majority were brilliant at Preston, there was just one or two and sometimes they vent and want to vent and things are happening on the pitch that they don’t like or we haven’t won a game they wanted to see us win and they pay their hard earned money and travel and give up their time to come.
“But I just ask them to support the team, support the players and if they do that things will turn round a lot quicker.”
Coventry host Luton on Saturday, October 26 with kick-off at 12.30pm at the CBS Arena.
