MARK Robins insists his side ‘have to learn’ following a below-par performance in a 1-1 draw at Bristol City.
Substitute Kasey Palmer came off the bench to earn the Sky Blues a point after George Tanner’s stunning volley opened the scoring at Ashton Gate.
However, City boss Robins hopes his side can find their best form soon after managing just a single shot on target all game.
Robins said: “We ended up rushing things and giving the ball away and sometimes we were passing the ball in the air when it should have been into feet.
“They were pressing and we’re trying to get it under control, and we are used to that but we were nowhere near our best and we have to get there as soon as we can.
“We have to take the point, there’s nothing we can do now, but we have to learn from this.”
And Robins insists the Sky Blues must improve if the club are to achieve success this season.
Robins added: “They have to take responsibility and keep going all the time. We have enough players here now with quality and they have to make an impact
“They give everything they’ve got and that’s how you get the best and maximise your squad, but we still have to get there at the moment.
“We made it difficult for ourselves. We looked sluggish. I’m going to look at what we’ve done, but we have to be better than that and if we want to achieve anything, we have to be better than that in all the games.”
Coventry host Oxford United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, August 27 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
