COVENTRY City moved into the top-half of the Championship table after two late goals helped the Sky Blues to a 2-0 win against Wigan Athletic.
Gustavo Hamer’s deflected strike opened the scoring before Viktor Gyokeres sealed the points deep into injury time at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The result means Coventry sit 12th in the Sky Bet Championship table, just five points outside the play-off places with at least one game in hand on the teams above them.
Coventry left it late to secure a third straight win against Wigan after Kasey Palmer had spurned City’s best chance up until the deadlock was broken.
The Sky Blues eventually took the lead on 78 minutes when Hamer’s shot from 20-yards out took a big deflection off Jack Whatmough with Jamie Jones having committed to a dive.
And Gyokeres made the points safe five minutes into injury time when he turned his man on the halfway line and sprinted clear before placing a clinical effort into the bottom left corner.
Coventry are next in action at home against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, November 12 with kick-off at 3pm at the CBS Arena.
