COVENTRY Blaze have announced the signing of Canadian defenceman Carter Allen for the remainder of the 2023/24 Elite League season.
The 27-year-old joins Blaze after two seasons in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays and Cincinnati Cyclones.
In 90 ECHL games, the 6ft stay-at-home blue liner had 13 points (one goal, 12 assists) building a reputation as a reliable and combative player.
Blaze head coach, Danny Stewart, said: “Carter is very steady guy that will compliment what we have already. He plays a very physical game, puts his body on the line and is tough to play against.
“He’s another guy that we can use on the penalty kill and it was important for us to add some depth there. He will block shots, be heavy on guys, and play a simple game.”
Prior to turning professional, the native of London, Ontario played three years of college hockey at SUNY-Oswego, tallying 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists) in 81 games.
He will wear the number four jersey and could make his debut this weekend.
Coventry face Cardiff Devils in the Challenge Cup at Vindico Arena on Saturday, October 28 with the face-off at 7pm.
Blaze play Cardiff again on Sunday, October 29 with the face-off at 5.30pm at the Skydome Arena.
