ICE HOCKEY - Coventry Blaze to hold remembrance game for Dayle Keen

COVENTRY Blaze have dedicated next month’s Elite League fixture against Nottingham Panthers to former assistant coach Dayle Keen.

Keen died suddenly on February 26 last year and Blaze will celebrate his life at their Elite League game against Nottingham at the Skydome Arena on Sunday, February 16 (5,30pm face-off).

Former Blaze head coach Danny Stewart, a close friend of Keen, is now in charge of the Panthers.

The game takes place almost one year since Keen passed away.

Following Keen’s death, a GoFundMe page and bucket collection in his memory raised more than £8,000.

Affectionately known as ‘Keeno’, Blaze hope friends, family and supporters will come together to honour the Scotsman’s contribution to the club.

Keen first joined Coventry in 2018 as skills coach.

He quickly made an impression at Blaze and became assistant coach ahead of the 2019 season.

Blaze will wear specially designed jerseys against Nottingham in Keen’s memory.

One of Keen’s former clubs, Solway Sharks, have allowed Coventry to use their tartan base on the jersey.

Blaze have made the replica jerseys available to buy with a donation of the proceeds to go towards a charity chosen by Keen’s family.
