Local shooting ground appoints new general manager

Coventry Editorial 6th Aug, 2020   0

CADMAN Sporting – a UK-based country sports outfitter which holds ownership of Rugby-based clay pigeon shoot Barby Sporting – has announced the appointment of Julian Copeman as general manager.

Copeman, who developed an interest in country sports at the age of 12 due to his father’s involvement in land management around the Northamptonshire countryside, first discovered his passion for shooting at Barby Sporting in 1994.

Since then, his love for the sport, particularly rifle shooting and deer stalking, has grown significantly.

More than just a hobby, his 20-year career has been dedicated to the industry, which has seen him gain more than 15 years of coaching experience.

In addition, he has held senior management positions at some of the most prestigious names in UK shooting, including Honesberie Shooting School and, most recently, the renowned E.J. Churchill.

In the role of general manager, Copeman will capitalise on his previous experience to oversee the day-to-day running of Barby Sporting and will be responsible for the overall strategic direction of both the shooting ground and its two dedicated gun shops – Rugby Gun and Northampton Gun.

Commenting on his appointment, Copeman said: “To return to the place where my passion for shooting was first ignited, especially within a management role, is extremely exciting.

“Alongside the wider Barby Sporting team, I am looking forward to building on the ground’s already impressive growth, continuing to take it from strength to strength as we further expand our offering and facilities to make Barby Sporting the ultimate country sports destination.”

Cadman Sporting is backed by investment from multinational alternative investment firm Cadman Capital Group.

Plans to develop the ground to include more shooting areas and additional sporting opportunities are well under way, with further developments scheduled for later this year.
