COVENTRY City head to Wembley this weekend ahead of an FA Cup semi-final showdown against Manchester United.
A memorable 3-2 win against Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers booked City’s place at Wembley.
Let’s take a look back at the Sky Blues run to the semi-finals which includes wins against Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday and Maidstone United and also, that famous victory at Wolves.
FA Cup Third Round – Coventry City 6-2 Oxford United
The Sky Blues began their FA Cup campaign with a dominant win against League One play-off hopefuls Oxford in early January as City scored six goals in a game for the first time in almost three years.
In a chaotic opening to the cup tie, four goals were scored inside 20 minutes as Joel Latibeaudiere’s deflected header broke the deadlock only for Oxford to equalise through Mark Harris.
However, City took command of the tie when Ben Sheaf’s simple finish and a Kasey Palmer thunderbolt put the home side into a two-goal lead at the break.
Coventry stretched their lead after the break courtesy of Callum O’Hare’s penalty as substitute Tyler Goodrham briefly reduced the deficit only for a late brace from Matty Godden to complete the scoring.

The Sky Blues were pegged back late on away at Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday at the end of January having beaten the same opposition in the league six days earlier at Hillsborough.
Midfielder Victor Torp scored a sensational goal on the stroke of half time to put City in front at the break, becoming the first Coventry player to score on his debut September 2020 in the process.
However, the Owls forced a replay when Djeidi Gassama’s effort found the net via the aid of the post six minutes from time.

FA Cup Quarter-Finals – Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-3 Coventry City
Coventry memorably secured their place in the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time in 37 years as Wright scored a dramatic 100th-minute winner at Premier League side Wolves.
Wright curled a low effort into the bottom right corner to complete a remarkable injury time turnaround after Simms’ header levelled the tie three minutes earlier at Molineux.
That came after Wolves thought they had won the game through late goals from Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno after Simms opened the scoring early in the second half.
However, in an extraordinary end to the contest, Coventry scored twice in injury time to spark wild scenes of celebration and book their place at Wembley.
