KIND-hearted Coventrian Mick Singh has been named Nextdoor’s Neighbour of the Year for acts of kindness.
From lending a helping hand with day-to-day tasks to organising unforgettable surprises, Mick’s acts of kindness have left an indelible mark on his community.
Originally from Singapore, Mick’s journey of goodwill began at a young age when he started volunteering while delivering papers to his neighbours in Coventry.
Mick has assisted neighbours with grocery shopping to arranging tribute band gigs, he has even gifted holidays to terminally ill children to destinations like Disney World.
Admist the challenges posed by the recent cost-of-living crisis, Mick turned to Nextdoor as a platform to extend his support to those in need.
Mick often goes above and beyond to assist his neighbours, shouldering the costs himself.
His acts of kindness range from providing practical support like securing important ID documents to offering aid to the homeless in Coventry city centre.
Mick helps up to five people a week with their shopping, he said: “The current climate out there is very difficult for people and their money doesn’t cover all their outgoings. “I’ve worked hard and
I’ve always given, it’s great satisfaction for me knowing I can help others and make a difference.
“I’m overwhelmed and quite shocked. The comments were amazing, but I don’t do it for that, I just want to make a difference.”
