COVENTRIANS are being encouraged to join people from over 400 cities in a global challenge to record as much wildlife as possible across four days.
The international City Nature Challenge, now in its sixth year, sees people come together and share observations about the natural world using the free iNaturalist app.
The challenge runs between next Friday, April 28 and Monday, May 1.
The natural history consortium is hosting a collaboration between the UK cities taking part to open the challenge up beyond regional boundaries and allow as many people as possible to participate.
People can share their wildlife sightings from windows, gardens, parks or city streets.
All data collected will help towards conservation and monitoring both in Coventry and nationally.
Local events where people can take their snaps of nature include a dusk-to-dark wildlife tour with the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust at Charterhouse next Friday, April 28.
The following afternoon (Saturday) from 1pm there will be a healthy nature walk at Longford Park.
And next Sunday, April 30, people can watch out for wildlife at the hub at Coventry University between 1pm and 3pm.
People wanting to take part can download the free iNaturalist app and take a photo of the animals and natural elements they find.
The app will then help identify what people have found and wildlife experts will work to confirm the exact species.
