FOOTBALL - Haji Wright praises Coventry City's 'intensity' in QPR victory

HAJI Wright praised Coventry City’s ‘intensity’ after the Sky Blues put Queens Park Rangers to the sword in their last outing.

City put seven past QPR in a rout at the Coventry Building Society Arena as Wright netted twice while Jack Rudoni and Victor Torp also scored braces.

Coventry’s other goal fame from Brandon Thomas-Asante and Wright feels the Sky Blues have plenty of firepower in their forward line.

Wright said: “I think it was all about the intensity we played with, it was hard to deal with.

“We were pressing relentlessly, and we were gaining the ball in their half pretty often and we had the calmness to possess it and then attack.

“It was just attack after attack, and it’s kind of hard to deal with.

“We have a lot of attacking options at the front end of the pitch.

“I think we had three different goal scorers or four different goal scorers, we really have a lot of attacking power going forward.”

And Wright also believes the club’s purchase of the CBS Arena will only help Coventry push forward in their pursuit of a return to the Premier League.

Wright added: “It’s positive and it lays the foundation for the future and It’s great to see the club taking steps forward and we’re happy with it.

“They’re [the fans] great and since I arrived, it’s been sold out, home and away and they make it a lot harder for teams to play the CBS and, we have a great relationship.

“Fixtures come thick and fast, especially in the Championship, so we’re happy but it’s behind us and we’re turning towards Millwall now.”

Coventry are next in action against Millwall in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, August 26 with kick-off at 7.45pm at The Den.
