COVENTRY’S adult education service has retained its ‘Good’ Ofsted rating following its latest inspection.

Staff and learners at Coventry City Council’s Adult Education Service are celebrating the rating following their recent visit from the government inspectorate in February.

Five Ofsted inspectors visited adult education classes during the inspection, speaking with learners and analysing survey results before granting the service its overall ‘Good’ classification.

Inspectors praised the service’s broad selection of local classes, noting how learners benefit from knowledgeable and experienced tutors who impart the understanding, abilities and attitudes necessary for them to advance in the future with academic pursuits, apprenticeships or personal development.

Ofsted also recognised how learners and apprentices enjoyed classes and gained confidence throughout the course of the four day inspection.

Kim Mawby, head of employment and skills, Coventry City Council said: “I am really pleased that Ofsted has recognised the positive impact that the Council’s Adult Education Service is having on residents in Coventry.

“The wide range of courses available and the excellent standards of teaching ensure that the provision makes a difference to people’s lives, whether that’s helping residents find employment, progressing in their careers or supporting their wellbeing.

“Congratulations to everyone in the Adult Education Service for this fantastic achievement.
