Have your say on Coventry student hub proposals

Coventry Editorial 5th Jul, 2023 Updated: 7th Jul, 2023   0

COVENTRIANS will be able to have their say on proposals for a new student hub at 8 Torwood Close.

The plans, unveiled by Balfour Beatty Investments, would see around 780 student bedrooms created across two buildings.

There would also be shared cluster rooms for students as well as study areas, lounges, a cinema room, and a gym.

The proposed site is currently a stand-alone office block a short distance from the University of Warwick.

It is also in between an existing student accommodation campus and a proposed scheme, which has recently been granted planning consent.

People will be able to find out more about the proposals and give feedback at a public exhibition at 8 Torwood Close on Wednesday, July 12.

A consultation website will be made live immediately following the exhibition.

A Balfour Beatty Investments spokesperson said the proposals would be able to meet the growing demand for student beds.

This, the spokesperson added, would help unlock existing family housing elsewhere in the city rather than force students to rely on HMOs.
