Phil prepares for up and down challenge in aid of The Myton Hospices

A HEALTH and fitness coach is preparing to go up and down in the world this weekend in aid of The Myton Hospices.

Phil Sims will be run up and down the beacon hill at Leamington’s Newbold Comyn 50 times and will also complete 1,000 press-ups on Saturday morning (June 6).

“I always take part in the Two Castles Run, where a lot of money is raised for the hospice,” said Phil, who is also a veteran of the Wolf Run and Regency Run. “It was to be run on June 14 but has been cancelled because of Covid-19 so I thought I’d raise some money for them by doing this instead.

“Also, of course, all their major spring and summer fund-raising events have had to be cancelled so they are desperately short of funds.”

The Myton Hospices have hospices in Warwick, Coventry and Rugby and provide the ‘Myton at Home’ nursing service. The charity, which runs 27 shops, needs to raise more than £9million each year to provide vital support and care for people with terminal and life-limiting illnesses.

Phil, a regular contributor to Men’s Health Magazine, is no stranger to epic deeds. Three years ago, he and two friends raised £2,000 for Myton Hospice by undertaking a gruelling 24 km race over a Welsh mountain used by the military for Special Forces training.

He will be setting off around 9am and hopes to complete the ordeal in less than two hours.
